Used Car Import Regulations in Canada

In Canada, used vehicles can be imported if they are at least 15 years old. Left-hand drive is common, but right-hand drive vehicles can also be imported.

LHD and RHD allowed

No fixed age limit

Import Eligibility

Only vehicles 15 years or older can be imported as used vehicles.

Import Duties & Taxes

Customs duty, GST (5%) and PST (provincial sales tax) apply. Rates vary by vehicle type and engine capacity.

Vehicle Condition

New vehicles and used vehicles 15 years or older.

Required Documents

Export certificate, vehicle registration certificate, purchase invoice, import permit, etc.

Steering (RHD/LHD) Rules
